Watford House Staff

The home is very proud of its staff who have been carefully selected to deliver sensitive care and measured support.

In line with government legislation, all new staff are vetted through POVA and DBS checks along with references from previous employers. Full induction training is given, following the new Care Certificate format, and staff receive continual training throughout the year to ensure the very highest standard of care.

Training to NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care is mandatory for all Care Support Staff, and the home supports each staff member using outside training providers and assessors. In accordance with National Essential Care Standards our staff are given full support and encouragement throughout their NVQ Health and Care Qualifications level 2-5.

Staff training is undertaken through a thorough system of external and internal training. Each staff member receives continuous training in all facets of dementia care and working in a care home environment.

When residents first arrive a dedicated named carer will be assigned as a key worker, responsible for ensuring they settle in comfortably. This member of staff will get to know their particular residents personal needs and assist a senior member of staff in devising a care plan setting out their treatments and services. This will include any input the resident and their family may wish to make and information provided by Doctor’s or other specialists. This plan will be reviewed in consultation with health specialists, client and families regularly so it continues to reflect a residents personal needs.
